‘West Side Story’ Auditions Set At JCC
Jamestown Community College will hold auditions from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 28 for its fall musical, “West Side Story.”
Auditions will be held in Scharmann Theatre, located in Sheldon Center. Those auditioning must be able to perform a song from the musical and should wear comfortable clothing for the dance portion of the audition.
Performances will be held Nov. 7-10 and 14-17.
Julie Costantini will direct JCC’s production, which is based on a book by Arthur Laurents and featuring music by Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein.
West Side Story, inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, is set in the Upper West Side of New York City in the mid-1950s. The musical focuses on the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, teenage street gangs.
