JCC To Hold Auditions For Summer Musical

Jamestown Community College will hold auditions from 6 to 9 p.m. April 8 and 9 for a summer musical, “The Last Five Years.”

Written by Jason Robert Brown, “The Last Five Years” is about a five-year relationship between novelist Jamie Wellerstein and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronological order. Beginning the show for her is the end of the relationship, and Jamie’s is told in chronological order, starting after the couple has first met.

The characters are normally portrayed by a male and female.

However, the JCC production will feature a different cast — two men, two women, or a male and female — on different nights. Roles are also available for other actors as well as dancers.

JCC’s theatre director Steve Gustafson plans to convert the Scharmann Theatre stage into a ‘black box theatre’ for the performances, which will allow audiences of 80-100 people to sit on the stage.

Additional details on the production and auditions can be obtained by Steve Gustafson at 338-1166.
