Robert And Paola Plano Will Perform Oct. 12

The Jamestown Concert Association presents the first concert in its 2018-19 concert series of Dedicated to Great Music on Friday, Oct. 12, when pianists Roberto and Paola Plano perform in Jamestown at 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St.

Italian pianist Roberto Plano first performed in Jamestown after winning the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition at age 23. In the following years, he was a Finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Prizewinner of the Honens International Piano Competition, and the Axa Dublin International Piano Competition among many others.

He also married Paola Del Negro, who made her solo debut in Turin, Italy at age 9 and continued to win competitions and accolades throughout Europe. Together they ran a prestigious music school in Varese, Italy, while raising three young daughters and maintaining an international performance schedule including returns to Jamestown and Chautauqua.

In 2016 the family moved to the United States where Roberto joined the piano faculty at Boston University. In January 2018 he won the American Prize in the solo professional division and has most recently become associate professor of piano at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where Paola is also adjunct lecturer as well as director of PDN Piano Studio.
