Chautauqua Institution will be accepting applications to study in their visual arts programs for the coming summer. Study at the undergraduate, post-graduate and MFA levels is available.

The deadline for applications is April 1. Tuition is low compared to other summer programs of comparable quality. Some scholarship assistance is available.

Through March 29, the Kavinoky Theatre Company on Porter Avenue in Buffalo will perform a production of ”Arrivals and Departures,” a comic play by British playwright Alan Aykbourne. Tickets are $39 for the general public. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., plus Saturday matinees at 4 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo has announced their 2015-16 season of professional touring company performances:

From Sept. 29 to Oct. 4, see ”Newsies,” a Disney musical about news boys. The show won two Tony Awards in 2012.

Nov. 3-8, see ”Matilda,” a winner of more than 50 awards internationally, including four Tony Awards. Based on a story by Roald Dahl, the show is still playing on Broadway.

Dec. 8-13, see ‘Annie,” the popular musical based on the cartoon strip ”Little Orphan Annie.”

Jan. 26-31, enjoy ”Pippin,” a show based on the spirit of the three-ring circus. The company includes members of a famed acrobatic troupe, in addition to Tony-winning singers, dancers and actors.

March 15-20, enjoy ”Beautiful,” a biographical show based on the life and career of singer/songwriter Carole King.

May 3-8, see ”Dirty Dancing,” a show based on the award-winning film of the same name. It includes all the songs from the film, such as ”Hungry Eyes,” ”Do You Love Me?” and ”Time of My Life.”

In addition to the season printed above, for which season tickets are now on sale, there are three special engagements which will be performed in Buffalo in addition to the regular shows.

Feb. 12-14, 2016, see the Blue Man Group, three men who paint themselves bright blue and perform comedy music and technology.

Due to brisk ticket sales, the game show ”The Price is Right,” which was scheduled to take place in Erie’s Warner Theatre on April 15, has been moved to the Erie Insurance Arena on that same date.

Tickets already purchased will be moved without additional charge to the new venue or may be refunded. Ticket prices range between $29.50 and $47.50. Prizes will be awarded to successful contestants including appliances, cars and vacations.

Tomorrow at 7 p.m., the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will present a concert by Caladh Nua, a quintet of musicians from Ireland.

They will be performing on banjos, fiddles, guitars, bodhran, tin whistle and button accordian, as well as singing the rich songs of Irish tradition in a manner which they describe as ”new classic.”

Tickets cost $25, $35 and $45 per person. Children age 12 and younger are admitted for half the price of the ticket. Select seats costing $10 are available in the first two rows for patrons between ages 13 and 30.

Robert Jordan, an emeritus member of the piano faculty at the State University of New York at Fredonia, will perform a recital at 4 p.m. tomorrow in Rosch Recital Hall on the university’s campus.

Jordan will be joined by several of his former students and by Benjamin Curtin, the son of his former student, David Curtin. Admission to the performance is free of charge and the general public is welcome to attend.

In addition to his Sunday concert, Jordan will offer a master class on Monday at 2 p.m., also in Rosch Recital Hall. The public is invited to participate as spectators.

From March 26-31, Niagara University will present a production of the play ”Cyrana,” which is an adaptation of Edmund Rostand’s classic ”Cyrano de Bergerac.”

Performances will take place in the Leary Theatre inside the Clune Center on the university’s campus. The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. on March 26, 30 and 31. The play will start at 7:30 p.m. March 27 and 28, plus matinees at 2 p.m. on March 28 and 29. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for employees of the university and for audience members age 62 and older. All tickets are for general seating. Five minutes before curtain time, any student at any institution age 21 or younger will be admitted for free if seats are available. To reserve tickets by phone call 286-8685.

Fans of television’s ”Downton Abbey” will want to catch ”America’s Got Downton,” a one-man production in which actor Luke Kempner performs more than 30 character roles, including all the main roles in that series plus recognizable celebrities who are written into the situation of the program as though they were guests of the Crawley family.

The performance will take place April 10 and 11 at 710 Main St., the theater which once housed Studio Arena Theatre in Buffalo.
