Anniversary
The 50th wedding celebration for Janet and Jim Huntington began on Friday, Aug. 11, with a family and friend bon fire at the home of the Huntington’s daughter, Tara Smith of Napoli. In honor of the couple’s wedding night pizza and root beer were the foods of choice. This was attended by more than 30 guests that included three of the couple’s wedding party.
The weekend continued on Aug. 13 where the Huntington’s renewed their vows at mass where the couple was married, St. Patrick’s Church in Randolph, with the Rev. Donald Watkins Jr. presiding.
The day continued with a catered luncheon for more than 50 people by Burke Lindquist at the Cardinal Hills Event Center. The flowers and cake were made by the couples daughter-in-law, Heather Huntington. The event was hosted by the couple’s two children, Tara Smith and Shawn Huntington, and their families.
A wedding video was played during the event with personal messages from family members. Five of there attendants were in attendance for this event. Seven of the couple’s eight grandchildren were in attendance.
Janet (Stahley) Huntington and Jim Huntington were married on Aug. 11, 1973. Janet Huntington is retired from the Randolph Academy and St. Patrick’s church. Jim Huntington is retired from the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works where he was a foreman.
