Mr. and Mrs. Van Volkenburg

Jim and Rose Van Volkenburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at their children’s property on Warner Road, Sherman, with a small gathering of family and friends.

They were married on July 4, 1970 at the Sherman Community Church and have always resided in Sherman.

Jim Van Volkenburg retired from the Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities in September 2002 as a road construction supervisor after 33 years. He presently is an active Sherman town justice, an elective position he has held for 35 years. After working for over 43 years, Rose Van Volkenburg finished her career at Panama Central School as secretary to the superintendent and district clerk, retiring July 2013.

They have two children, Amy (Russell) Hayes and Andrew (Andrea) Van Volkenburg. They have four grandchildren and five-step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
