City Man Arrested In Connection With Puerto Rico Homicide

Jamestown police have arrested a city man who is wanted by Puerto Rican police for homicide. On Wednesday, Jamestown police officers were given information of a man at an east side residence who was wanted by police. Officers went to the address and the man, Bryan Rivera-Montanez, answered the door. Rivera-Montanez was taken into custody without incident and taken to the city jail, where he was charged with fugitive from justice and held on an arrest warrant for homicide.

City Man Killed In Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A Jamestown man has been killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon. Benny L. Salva, 35, of Jamestown was riding his motorcycle on Barrett Avenue near McKinley Avenue at the time of the accident. Jamestown police say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident, which took place at 12:58 p.m. A portion of Barrett Avenue was closed to traffic while police investigated the accident. Wildfires in Canada will take a toll on individuals outdoors today. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Amanda Lefton and State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald are issuing an Air Quality Health Advisory for fine particulate matter for the Western New York regions. A Jamestown man has been charged with first-degree grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $1 million from his employer. Paul A. Weinstein, 60, of Jamestown was charged Monday by city police officers at Ben Weitsman of Jamestown, 610 W. Eighth St., Jamestown, after an investigation by Jamestown police and the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office. Jamestown Police officers responded to a shooting at about 9:50 p.m., on Thursday near Ninth Street. According to police, shots were fired, but there are no reported injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
