City Man Charged After Assault With Baseball Bat

A Jamestown man is facing charges after an assault on Thanksgiving morning. Alec C. Pentz, 30, was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. At around 9:41 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a Northside address for a reported assault. A subsequent investigation determined that the suspect, Pentz, struck a victim at the scene with a baseball bat, causing the victim to sustain injuries. Pentz was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was being held pending arraignment.

A Jamestown man is facing federal drug charges. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Wednesday that Russell Sims, 32, of Jamestown, was charged by criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000. Lake-Snow Warning Begins Early Thanksgiving In Region

A lake-effect snow warning has been issued for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties starting early Thursday by the National Weather Service. Eerily similar to last year, the forecast calls for heavy lake effect snow with total accumulations at 12 to 20 inches in the most persistent areas. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow. The warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Saturday.
