Weekly COVID Cases Begin To Trend Upward In County

After a couple of weeks with new COVID-19 cases trending downward in Chautauqua County, the rate appears to be going in the other direction. The county Health Department on Wednesday announced 313 new cases for the week ending Oct. 30 along with five new virus-related deaths. To date there have been 13,441 confirmed cases of COVID in the county, 12,934 recoveries and 211 deaths. As of Oct. 30 there were 296 active cases, 15 people with the virus in the hospital and 694 in quarantine. State officials recently released New York’s latest unemployment rates, but typically compare employment statistics to the same period one year ago.
