RANDOLPH — Forestville opened up an early 6-0 lead and held on to defeat Randolph 6-4 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball game Tuesday. Winning pitcher Alexandra Kerstetter scattered six hits and struck out 14 to help the Hornets raise their record to 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the division. Hyde Scholarship Applications Available; Deadline Is June 10

Individuals seeking an application for the Frank Hyde Memorial Scholarship can secure one by emailing sports@post-journal.com. A copy of the application will be emailed to applicants in return. Deadline is June 10. The $1,000 scholarship is presented in memory of the late Frank Hyde, sports editor of The Post-Journal from 1945-79. Jamestown Area YMCA ‘Battle’ Registration Is Now Under Way

Registration is currently taking place for the Jamestown Area YMCA’s 38th annual Battle of Businesses, which will be held Sept. 12-19. The Battle consists of two divisions — a Large Division (with 121 employees or more) and the Small Division (with 120 employees or less). The divisions are made up of national and local companies, agencies or organizations. Smaller businesses can also team up with other smaller businesses to compose a team. FALCONER — Lauren Yagger and Avery Yagger of Falconer shared medalist honors with a 49, but Southwestern claimed the team match 30-25 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls golf match at Breezewood Links on Friday.
