Jamestown CC Splits With Ithaca, SUNY Oswego

Jamestown Community College split a tri-match with Ithaca College and SUNY Oswego and also competed at the Alfred State Open Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Ithaca claimed a 36-15 win over the Jayhawks, with that match featuring a bout between NJCAA Division III No. 1 ranked Jake Ashkraft and No. 2 Cameron Page of Jamestown CC.

Ashkraft would win the match at 184 pounds via a 9-8 decision.

Also against Ithaca, Dan Torres picked up a decision win at 174 pounds, Wyatt Holley earned a first-round pin at 197 and Nick Jones picked up a win via fall in the second period at 285.

Jones would go 2-0 on the day, earning another first period pin in a 22-33 loss to Oswego.

In that match against the Lakers, Paul Manning IV won via forfeit at 125, Nick Kozlowski was a winner at 133 via third-period pin and Page was a major-decision winner.

Finishing well at the Alfred State Open was Caleb Palmatier at 157. Palmatier claimed fourth place while Alon Hough finished in fifth at 285.

The Jayhawks will be on the road Wednesday against Niagara County Community College.
