Hind Named Player Of Year In CCAA Division 1 East
The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East boys basketball All-Star teams were released recently, and Tyler Hind of Randolph has been named Player of the Year after sharing that honor a season ago with Nate Brawdy of Gowanda.
As a sophomore, Hind averaged 23 points, six assists and four rebounds per game in helping Randolph to a record of 13-10 and a share of the league title with Allegany-Limestone.
Gators coach Glenn Anderson has been named Coach of the Year after guiding his squad to a 16-5 mark and its first league title in the history of the school since their merger to become Allegany-Limestone.
Joining Hind on the First Team are Brawdy, who finished the year with 22 points per game for the Panthers. Jarmani Benton of Silver Creek averaged 20.5 points and five rebounds as a senior; Braeden Woleben finished his junior season with Silver Creek averaging 18 points and 13.5 rebounds per contest; Sam Flanders of Allegany Limestone averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 assists as a junior; and teammate Casey Curran averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per contest.
The league’s Second Team includes Gowanda senior Ture Hassler (13 points); Salamanca senior Hercules Rasha (14.5 points, 8 rebounds); Allegany-Limestone’s Michael Wolfgang (11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds); Randolph’s Gabe McCoy, an 8th grader who averaged 7.4 points and 10 rebounds, and senior Calvin George; and Silver Creek sophomore Dom Jamison (14.5 points).
