Torres, Penhollow Take Over At No. 1

A pair of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley wrestlers took over No. 1 rankings at their respective weight classes from the Wrestling Review of Western New York after impressive showings at Saturday's Patrick J. Morales Tournament.

Senior Dan Torres took over the top spot at 160 pounds after beating former No. 1 Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama senior Bryce Rowe, 1-0, in Saturday's championship.

Junior Robbie Penhollow took over No. 1 at 170 pounds after pinning Harbor Creek's Shane Watkins in 32 seconds during Saturday's final.

Southwestern senior Giuseppe Hoose took over the top spot at 182 pounds by defeating Maple Grove senior Zak Trim, 7-2, in Saturday's championship bout.

Red Dragons eighth-grader Luke Tomlinson remained No. 1 at 99 pounds after pinning Jamestown's Nick Ewan 2:30 into Saturday's final while senior teammate Shane Hetrick stayed in the top spot at 120 pounds after beating Harbor Creek's Mike Gable, 7-5, in the final bout of the night Saturday.

Fredonia senior Hector Colom is still the top-ranked wrestler at 132 pounds and junior teammate Giovanni Russo is still No. 1 at 138 pounds. Falconer/Cassadaga Valley senior Dylan Ingrao retained his top ranking at 152 pounds, winning the championship Saturday with a 6-4 win over Kane's Alec English.

Rowe dropped down to No. 2 at 160 pounds as did Trim at 182 pounds while Falconer/Cassadaga Valley senior Corey Keefe remained No. 2 at 195 pounds after losing to Harbor Creek's Lucas Folmar, 10-1, in the final. Jamestown senior Noah Turzillo stayed at No. 2 at 220 pounds after winning Saturday's championship, 2-1, over Clarion's Tom Wurster.

Red Raiders junior Cody Pool remained No. 3 at 113 pounds after beating Clarion's Logan Denher, 9-2, in the final Saturday. Fredonia sophomore Dalton Gardner retained his No. 3 spot at 126 pounds.

Gowanda freshman David Ball (99 pounds), Southwestern freshman Garrett Swan (106 pounds), Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama junior Austin Bourgeois (126 pounds), Randolph senior Matt Evans (132 pounds), Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior Nick Saeger (138 pounds), Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama junior Derek Ecklund (145 pounds), Cattaraugus-Little Valley junior Sam Grey (145 pounds), Jamestown senior Seth MacTavish (145 pounds), Fredonia sophomore Jake Skinner (220 pounds) and Randolph senior Nick Becker (285 pounds) all received honorable-mention status.

Other top-ranked wrestlers include: North Tonawanda junior Tyler Bartolomei (106 pounds), Clarence sophomore Aiden Rabideau (113 pounds), Tonawanda junior Zach Braddell (126 pounds), Niagara-Wheatfield junior Warren McDougald (145 pounds), Lancaster senior Joe Andreessen (195 pounds), Pioneer junior Mike Rigerman (220 pounds) and Grand Island senior Jaquan Johnson (285 pounds).

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley remains the No. 3 Small School in the team rankings while Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama is No. 6, Fredonia is No. 7 and Randolph is No. 9. Pioneer is listed as No. 1.

In the Large School rankings, Jamestown is No. 7 while Lancaster is No. 1.
