Beatman, Gleason Spark Sherman Past Panthers; PVCS Girls Rally To Win Behind Hohl’s 23 Points

The Sherman Wildcats broke open a close game with an 18-11 third-quarter run to send them to a 45-28 non-league victory over Pine Valley on Saturday at Jamestown Community College.

Mike Beatman led the way with 15 points and Jared Gleason added 12 for the winners. Gleason also had four rebounds and four steals and Chance Meeder collected three steals and three blocks at for Sherman (9-5).

Tyler Mihalko and Zack Mansfield had nine points apiece to lead Pine Valley (4-7). Mihalko grabbed 15 rebounds and Mansfield had three steals and three assists.

HORNETS EDGE PIRATES

The third quarter was the difference as Forestville evened its overall record at 7-7 by defeating Clymer, 48-45, in non-league boys basketball at Jamestown Community College.

Travis Drozdziel and Mac Gadewoltz scored five points each during the 14-8 third period as Forestville went to record the victory.

Lewis Mackham led the Hornets with 13 points, and Drozdziel and Gadewoltz had 10 points apiece in the win.

Gadewoltz grabbed 14 rebounds and Markham had 10. Gadewoltz had six assists and four steals.

Garrett Hinsdale and Dustin Neckers had 13 points apiece for Clymer (6-8). Neckers also had eight rebounds and four blocks.

PINE VALLEY RALLIES FOR WIN

Pine Valley (8-3, 3-0) went on a 17-8 run in the final quarter on its way to a 44-39 come-from-behind non-league girls basketball win over Sherman (8-4, 2-0) at Jamestown Community College.

Kayla Hohl exploded for 23 points in the win while notching five rebounds and five steals, while Kaylee Crisanti finished her night with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists.

Zoey Charrette finished with 11 points, 4 assists and 4 steals for Sherman while Mackenzie Gratto led the way down low with 9 rebounds and 10 points while Hannah Murdoch added 9 rebounds and 5 points in the loss.

LADY PIRATES PREVAIL

Clymer improved its record to 7-6 by defeating Forestville, 59-23, on Saturday afternoon in a non-league girls basketball game at Jamestown Community College.

The Lady Pirates opened up with a 16-3 first quarter and expanded that margin to 35-6 at halftime en route to the win.

Ashley Covey led the way with 17 points, including 11 in the first quarter, and seven steals and Nashia Duryee added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Hannah King had five assists.

For Forestville (1-11), Phoebe Kingfield scored 10 points and had nine rebounds and Sylvea Cleary had 10 points. Ashley Bailey grabbed seven rebounds for the Lady Hornets.
