The Section VI Wrestling Class/Divisional Tournaments will be held Saturday at various sites throughout Western New York.
Weigh-ins will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. start time. Finals for each tournament are slated to take place around 4:30 p.m.
According to the official Section VI Wrestling Handbook, admission to each divisional tournament is $5 per session, or $10 for an all-tournament pass.
Lancaster will host the Class AA divisional tournament, which will feature Jamestown; Starpoint will host Class A; Cheektowaga will host Class B, which will include Olean/Allegany-Limestone and Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville; Falconer will host Class C; which will feature the Golden Falcons, Fredonia and Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama; and Cattaraugus-Little Valley will host Class D, which will also include Southwestern, Gowanda, Salamanca, Portville, Randolph, Franklinville, Maple Grove and Frewsburg.
In the Division I tournaments -- Class AA and Class A -- each tournament will qualify five wrestlers per weight class to the Section VI Championships. If the fifth/sixth-place bout is prevented due to the "five-match limit rule", both wrestlers advance in that weight class. Every effort will be made to match those participants in the first round of the state qualifier if the numbers/seeds allow.
In the Division II tournaments -- Class B, Class C and Class D -- each tournament will qualify four wrestlers per weight class to the Section VI Championships.
NOTES: The Division I (Class AA and Class A) Section VI State Qualifier will take place on Feb. 11 at North Tonawanda High School. The Division II (Class B, Class C and Class D) Section VI State Qualifier will be held at the Allegany Community Center in Salamanca the same day.
