Naomi A. Stahley, 90, formerly of Church Street, East Randolph, passed away, Saturday April 28, 2018, at the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center in Jamestown, with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in the Randolph, the daughter of late Glenn E. and Alice (Cooper) Northcraft.
Naomi was a 1945 graduate and Valedictorian of Randolph Central School. She retired from the State Bank of Randolph where she had served as a Loan Officer for 18 years; she had also been a home maker and seamstress while raising her five children.
Earlier on in her life, Naomi had worked for Dr. Donald Lawson and as a clerk at the former Randolph 5 & 10 Store.
She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph, a past member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181 and was the long time president of the Randolph Cemetery Association.
Naomi loved her flower gardens, attending performances at the Little Theatre in Jamestown or anything musical. She always attended her grandchildrens’ and great-grandkids’ musicals, plays and concerts. She loved traveling. Upon her retirement, she and her husband Richard traveled across the country to Washington State by car to see their daughter, Karen and her husband, Jeff in Skamania and later in Alaska, when they moved there. They traveled many spring breaks to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where the entire family would vacation together. Naomi was always famous for her 4’Oclock Happy Hour and included anyone who happened to stop by on her back porch.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen A. (Jeff) Cloutier, Janet M. (Jim) Huntington and Julie S. (John) Hitchcock, all of Randolph; two sons, David A. (Charlotte) Stahley of Springville and Thomas M. (Paige) Stahley of Salamanca; nin grandchildren, Tara (Raleigh) Smith, Shawn (Heather) Huntington, Nicole (Keith) Smallback, Andrew Hitchcock, Derek (Stacey) Stahley, Aaron Stahley, Brandon (Michelle) Stahley, Scott Stahley, Justin Stahley; and 13 great-grandchildren They spent many countless weekends enjoying her coffee and home made cinnamon rolls. She is also survived by a brother, Richard (Clara) Northcraft of Hobart, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Stahley, whom she married on May 6, 1950, in St. Patrick’s Church in Randolph and who preceded her on Dec. 10, 2010, and a sister, Lois Sullivan.
The family will receive family and friends from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2018, in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will held at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph. The Rev. Thomas Broad, Rector of the Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
