Frances J. Calanni

Frances J. Calanni, 96, of Jamestown, passed away at 7:53 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, in her home.

An area resident for most of her life, she was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Monroe, Mich., a daughter of the late Carl and Anna Norris DiLeo.

She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and later received her beauticians license.

Before her retirement, she was a beautician owning and operating the Frances-Marie Beauty Salon with her close friend Marie Tanner.

Frances was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She will be remembered as one who loved to cook and bake for her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons; Anthony (Laura) Calanni of Bemus Point, N.Y., and Ronald (Sue) Calanni of West Ellicott, five grandchildren: Gina (Robert) Hilburger of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Lisa Calanni of San Jose, Calif., Teresa (Daniel) Murtaugh of Columbus, Ohio, and Kristen (Mike) Tallon and Andrea Calanni, both of West Ellicott; and six great- grandchildren: Caden Hilburger, Ellison Hilburger, Grant Murtaugh, Evan Murtaugh, Sophia Tallon and Leah Tallon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel S. “Ned” Calanni, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947, and who died June 25, 2016; and a sister; Mary DiLeo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday (today) in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m. today in the funeral home.
