Faith Marie Luce (Johns)

Faith Marie Luce (Johns)

Faith Marie Luce (Johns) died peacefully at the home of Daniel and Erica Luce on June 17, 2017, in Springfield, Illinois, at the age of 72.

Faith is survived by her children: Wayne Luce (Anne) of Goldsboro, N.C., Andrew Luce (Brenda) of Clayton, N.C., and Daniel Luce (Erica) of Springfield, IL; her siblings David Johns (Bobbi) of Greensburg, Pa., Nancy Van Schoick (Herb) of Lancaster, Pa., and Susan Scafe (Denny) of Denver, CO; her grandchildren: Sheila McInnis (Jonathan), Brian Luce, Wade Luce, Samuel Luce, David Luce, Bethany Luce and Amelia Luce; and her great-grandchildren: Abby McInnis, Poppy Luce, Zoey McInnis, and Jay McInnis. She is preceded in death by her father, Howard Johns; and mother, Florence Johnson Johns.

Faith was born on Aug. 2, 1944, in East Randolph, N.Y., to Howard and Florence Johns. She graduated from Randolph Central School in 1962 and shortly thereafter graduated from Jamestown Business College. Through her life, Faith was a faithful servant to God, her family, friends, and community. Faith was known to open her home to friends, family and others in need. Faith was always willing to take up the fight to protect her children, a friend or the community. Faith was a mother to three boys (Wayne, Andy and Dan) and she commonly mentioned that being a stay-at-home mom was the best job she ever had. Her children remember her as a kind and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and love the Lord. After her duties of a stay-at-home mom were complete, she set to promote good health for her community by opening Herbs R-4-U on Foote Ave Ext. in Jamestown, N.Y. Faith spent countless hours learning about natural health, herbal treatments and a holistic approach to better health. Through this knowledge and this store, Faith was able to help countless people improve their health and improve their lives.

Faith had too many accomplishments to list completely, but the accomplishments she were most proud of were being a mother, an accomplished pianist/ organist playing for many churches within the community, teaching the Sacajawea Sunday School class at Stillwater United Methodist Church (she loved those ladies!), leader of a local bible study group that continued for many years, herbalist, gardener and a skilled card player. She was a generous individual to everyone she met and loved her family. Faith would commonly arrange family vacations so her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lived throughout the United States, would know one another. She was passionate about her love for the Lord, learning, teaching and traveling. She regularly attended Stillwater United Methodist Church.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Stillwater United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow at the Kiantone Fire Hall. The family will hold visitation 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Ken Hodgins will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Faith’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either the Kiantone Volunteer Fire Department at 2318 Foote Avenue Ext, Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Jamestown Audubon Society at 1600 Riverside Rd, Jamestown, NY 14701 (she loved her birds).

The family would like to especially thank Daniel and Erica for caring for Mom in her final days. We would also like to thank the ladies at Herbs R-4-U for helping to continue mom’s legacy of promoting natural health for the Jamestown area community.
