Jamestown Man Charged After Grabbing Teen With Knife

Andrew L. James

GERRY — A Jamestown man was charged after police say he grabbed a teenager last month in the town of Gerry while wielding a knife.

State Police based in Jamestown announced the charges against 29-year-old Andrew L. James for second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment following an investigation into an incident that occurred in a wooded area off Route 60 in the Town of Gerry on Aug. 19.

Troopers responded to the location, a popular fishing area, for a report of a male who allegedly grabbed an 18-year-old-female while wielding a knife. The suspect had left the area prior to the arrival of police.

Over the past few weeks, state police followed up on numerous tips and leads, which resulted in the charges of James. He was issued appearance tickets to return to Gerry Town Court at a later date.
