BLOCKVILLE -- The Harmony Historical Society is prepared to host its annual Harvest Festival on the society grounds in Blockville this weekend.
The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1943 Open Meadows Road. Featured at this year's festival will be demonstrations, re-enactments, crafts, quilts, weaving, spinning, long bow, caning, log carving and live music. Admission and parking are free to all.
Activities and attractions available to attendees include: open hearth cooking; an early American tools display; chair caning; tatting; alpacas; wood carving; bow making; a quilt show; weaving and spinning; fur traders; a stagecoach ride; and re-enactments by the Texas First Volunteer Infantry. The historical society's research library and one-room schoolhouse will also be open for tours.
Live music on Saturday will feature Old Dawg Bluegrass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Bonnie Loch Fiddlers from 2-3 p.m.; and Davis and Eng from 3:30-4:30 p.m. On Sunday music will be provided by Davis and Eng from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and again from 3-4:30 p.m.; and Picks and Hammers from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Merchants and vendors include: Big Tree Maple; Wacky Bee Apiary; Linda Mason; Crafts by Jennie; Wanda Buerkle; Buffone Kettle Corn; Whittier Apple Farm; Larry's Sutlery; Patriot Plaques; and Granny's Attic. Alpacas will be provided by Dun Roving Farm, and there will also be a silent and basket auction.
