‘American Pickers’ Coming To NY, Issue Call For Private Collections

Two of TV's favorite collectors of American antiquities will visit New York state next month.

Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, collectively known as "American Pickers" on the History Channel show of the same name, are calling on residents across New York state to contact the "American Pickers" team if they are in possession of any collectible items with a story attached.

"Mike and Frank are looking for people in your area with unique antique collections and interesting stories behind them," said Mary Weaver, an "American Pickers" team member. "We are just trying to get the word out there to all of the state so the people in your area know how to contact us if they have what we are looking for. If we get great feedback from your area, then we will come."

The show is set to film episodes next month. It is presented as a documentary series in which Wolfe and Fritz travel across the country to visit and "pick" through private collections of antique and vintage items in an effort to paint a picture of America's rich cultural history.

As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, the Pickers pursue their mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, the duo meet and learn more about the people who possess such items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America's past along the way.

The team is encouraging area residents who have a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques -- or know where one can be found -- that the Pickers can spend the better part of a day looking through to contact 1-855-653-7878 (855-OLD-RUST) or americanpickers@cineflix.com.

The team requests the following information be submitted: the name of the owner of the collection; their phone number; the location of the property; and a description of the collection, with photos. Wolfe and Fritz only pick private collections, so no information regarding stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the public will be considered.
