Westfield Man Remains Missing After One Week; Family Begins Search Near Gorge

Patrick Thompson

A search continues for 31-year-old Westfield resident Patrick S. Thompson, who was last seen June 12 around noon in the village.

According to Thompson’s niece, Evelyn Gonzalez, also of Westfield, a search party of about 20 volunteers gathered Tuesday evening to search the nearby wooded gorge area in Westfield.

“My uncle was very nature-oriented,” Gonzalez said. “He loves hiking and loves going to the gorge … and nature in general. So we thought there was a good possibility he might be there.”

Gonzalez said another search is in the works to cover other areas.

“We had a decent group (Tuesday) of family and close friends and hopefully if word keeps spreading about my uncle more people will step forward to join in,” she said.

The Westfield Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Thompson.

He is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sleeveless tank top shirt, black and white checkered shorts and black shoes.

He was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute the day of his disappearance and had a cut to his right ring finger. Police said he may be distraught and want to do harm to himself.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Westfield Police Department at 326-3375.
