Lilly Winwood More Than Holds Her Own On Stage

SALAMANCA — Very rarely at the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino does another act take the stage prior to the headliner.

Rarely do the children of musical legends have the ability to carry the legacy much beyond the help of their parent. Luckily, the Steve Winwood show on April 29 was the exception to the rule.

Lilly Winwood, Steve’s 21-year old daughter, opened for her dad. Strolling out accompanied by an acoustic guitar, Lilly filled the room with vocals that were reminiscent of a mix of Melissa Etheridge and Tori Amos. The Americana singer-songwriter really has the chops to be a star in her own right. The tour is her second with her father, and is in support of her debut EP, “Silver Stage.”

With her talents, I really hope this tour and EP is exactly what she needs to find that break to get out of her father’s shadow and on the road in her own identity.

She has the talent and the ability to be able to make it. I, for one, will be downloading her EP.
