Medical Condition Leads To Car’s Plunge Into Pond

CHAUTAUQUA — A driver suffering a medical condition led to a response by emergency crews for a vehicle into a pond.

At 5:50 p.m. Friday, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and Mayville Fire Department responded to the area of Route 394 and Parker Road for a call of a vehicle submerged. An investigation showed that Donald Dipirro, 46, of Westfield, was traveling north when he suffered an unknown medical condition and lost consciousness. His vehicle traveled off the road into a ditch on the east side of the road, struck a utility pole and then traveled into a pond becoming submerged in the water.

Dipirro was treated at the scene and transported to Westfield hospital for evaluation, Electrical power was disrupted in the area for a short time and restored by national Grid crews.
