WOOSTER, Ohio — Leigh Yartz, a resident of Lakewood, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Wooster during commencement exercises on May 14.

Yartz, a political science major with a minor in education who graduated magna cum laude, is a graduate of Southwestern Central High School. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious liberal arts honor society, as well as to the Pi Sigma Alpha (political science) and Kappa Delta Pi (education) honor societies. She served as a hearing counselor on the College’s judicial board and as secretary of Epsilon Kappa Omicron social club.

The College of Wooster is America’s premier college for mentored undergraduate research. By working one-on-one with a faculty adviser to conceive, organize, and complete an original research project, written work, performance or art exhibit, every Wooster student develops independent judgment, analytical ability, creativity, project-management and time-management skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls approximately 2,000 students.
