GERRY -- The Rodeo City Senior Citizens met recently for their monthly luncheon and guest speaker at the United Methodist Church.
Chautauqua County Clerk Larry Barmore was the guest speaker. Barmore said he wanted to tell the people the daily duties of the county clerk. First, Barmore spoke of his upbringing and his schooling, followed by his occupation and then his terms with the county legislator. Barmore then outlined the duties of the clerk's office. He said that he has a staff of 28. He and his staff deal with land records and recording of deeds and transfers, weights and measures, keeping historical records and the Department of Motor Vehicles, which has three offices in the county. He then said that keeping county records stored for the required time is very important.
The senior group was welcomed by president Allen Swanson, who gave the blessing prior to the meal. Following the meal, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all. Margie McIntyre, secretary, gave the minutes of the previous meeting and treasurer Valerie Bartholomew gave the financial report. Sunshine chairman Ruth Newton read the list of those having a birthday and anniversary. The birthday and anniversary songs were then sung.
Wagon Master O.Winston Bartholomew reported on the upcoming Christmas dinner theater tour in December. At the next gathering of the group, all those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to add to the meal and their own table service. The program will be an antique show and tell program, and members are asked to bring an antique to talk about during the program. Table decorations will be provided by Barb Swanson and Judy Daly. The group concluded with all singing "Blest Be The Tie That Binds," written by Dr. John Fawcett in 1772.
