Infinity To Host Learning Carnival
Infinity Visual and Performing Arts will host an open house learning carnival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Free demonstration classes will be offered in addition to a photo booth, facility tours, prizes and opportunities to sign up for lessons. The carnival is paid for in part by a Chautauqua Region Community Foundation grant.
Dinner Is Saturday
A Swiss steak dinner will be served on Saturday at the Findley Lake Community Center at 2883 North Road. The dinner will be available from 4:30-7 p.m. There is a donation of $12, which will benefit Acacia Chapter No. 96 Order of the Eastern Star in Sherman.
Heron To Discuss Seneca Land
The Allegany State Park Historical Society proudly presents guest speaker Tyler Heron who will discuss the taking of Seneca Indian lands for the Kinzua Dam/Allegheny Reservoir Project. The program will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. in the conference room of the Quaker Lake Beach Bathhouse at Allegany State Park. Heron will talk about his father, the late George Heron, who was president of the Seneca Nation of Indians during the controversial construction of the Kinzua Dam Project. Monthly meetings are always open to the public and free of charge.
MS Rap Group To Meet Saturday
Is there an upside to living with Multiple Sclerosis? Come to the Chautauqua Regional Multiple Sclerosis rap group from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Jones Hill Memorial Rehabilitation Center, first floor, 51 Glasgow Ave., Jamestown. This semi-structured support group has the goal of being both informative and fun. Snacks are provided. Those affected by the disease, including family and friends, are welcome to attend. Church Movie Night Is Friday
The United Methodist Church, 109 Old Fentonville Road, Frewsburg, will hold a free family movie night at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The featured movie is “The Case for Christ.” Free popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Rodeo To Hold Mealy Fundraiser
A fundraiser to benefit Denise Mealy will be held at the Gerry Rodeo, 4351 Route 60, Gerry, on Sunday from 1-7 p.m. Denise is recovering from two hip replacements. She has been out of work since April 29 and will not be able to return until Feb. 1, 2018. Tickets for the event includes food, door prizes, Chinese auction, a 50/50 and alcholic beverages (for donations). Kids five and under are free; children five to 15 are $4; and 15 or older are $10.
Senior Casino Trip Set For Nov. 27
The United Seniors Council is sponsoring a trip to the casino in Salamanca that will take place on Monday, Nov. 27. The cost is $30 per person and includes a lunch buffet. The bus will pick everyone up at the Lakewood Legion at 8:30 a.m. and will return by 5:30 p.m. Anyone with questions is asked to call 763-0544.
