Legion To Hold 9/11 Ceremony

The local American Legion and the Chautauqua County Veterans Council will be holding a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Monday at noon in front of the Chautauqua County Courthouse, 1 N. Erie St. in Mayville. The program is to honor and remember the over 3,000 Americans who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when members of the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., and a field in Western Pennsylvania. The short program is open to the public and will feature a few words from local dignitaries.

Rustic Ramblers Set For Friday

The Lakewood Legion Post will host the Rustic Ramblers on Friday from 7-11 p.m. Prime rib, chick Marsala, chicken parm and shrimp will be served. On Sunday, a breakfast buffet on Sunday from 8-11:30 a.m. The cost is $6 and the buffet is open to the public.

Cassadaga BOE To Meet Monday

The Cassadaga Valley school board will meet Monday in the middle-high multipurpose room. The meeting begins at 7 p.m., and the public is welcome to attend.

Bemus Point BOE To Meet Monday

The Bemus Point School Board will hold a regular meeting Monday in the Maple Grove Middle-High School cafeteria, located on Dutch Hollow Road in Bemus Point. The meeting is from 5-6 p.m., and an executive session will be held immediately afterward.

Stroke Awareness Walk Is Saturday

FREDONIA -- The Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders at the State University at Fredonia will host a Stroke Awareness Walk on Saturday at 10 a.m. to increase community awareness of stroke, to provide education on stroke prevention and to introduce services available at the Youngerman Center. Free hearing screenings, educational handouts, and informational brochures from the Youngerman Center will be offered to participants and members of the community at the event. The walk begins and ends at the Youngerman Center, covering about two miles along Central Avenue in Fredonia. A lunch will be served after the event. There is no entry fee. Alzheimer Group To Meet Tuesday

The Alzheimer's Association monthly caregiver support group will meet on Tuesday from 1-2:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room at the JAMA Building, 15 S. Main St., Jamestown. An evening monthly caregiver support group will meet on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Fluvanna Community Church on Fluvanna Avenue Extension. The groups are for anyone 18 years or older who is caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia-related diagnoses. ARC To Meet Tuesday

The Allegany Region Commission will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lake Erie State Park bathhouse. The public is welcome to attend.
