Winter Solstice Fest Is Set

The longest night of the year gives way to increasing light on the winter solstice.

Area residents can cheer on the lengthening days with a bonfire, a winter walk, a seasonal reflection led by Samsara Yoga Center, or just time spent outside at Audubon Community Nature Center on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Audubon provides warm cocoa, cider, and snacks for participants in the pavilion on the west side of the property. Those attending should dress for the outdoors and are invited to take part in a short hike led by Samsara Yoga Center.

Those attending will want to wear appropriate footwear for a short walk on snowy or muddy trails to get to the bonfire. Those who have a travel mug should bring it.

The fee for participating is $6 for adults, $2 for children 3-15, and free for ages two and under.

Reservations are appreciated; walk-ins are welcome. For more information and to make reservations, call 569-2345 during business hours or go to AudubonCNC.org/Programs and click through “Current Schedule.”
