Hornets Top Dunkirk In Opener
FORESTVILLE — Junior Carilene Sliwa matched a career high with 30 points as Forestville opened the season with a 46-38 nonleague girls basketball win over Dunkirk.
Sliwa scored 19 points in the opening three quarters before an 11-point fourth quarter helped the Hornets (1-0) put the Marauders (0-2) away for good.
Sliwa also had 12 steals for Forestville. Madison Hall grabbed seven rebounds, while Ingrid Gibson had 9 points and six rebounds for the Hornets. Elizabeth Chase also grabbed six rebounds.
Ashley Collazo had 15 points and six rebounds; Emaladie Pacheco had 9 points and three steals; and Brooke Szymczak grabbed eight rebounds for Dunkirk.

TONAWANDA — Kyla Hayes scored 13 of her game-high 33 points during a 21-10 second quarter as Cardinal O’Hara pulled away from Randolph for a 59-39 victory.
Hayes, who entered 37 points shy of 2,000 for her career, added 16 points in the second half.
Skylar Herington led the Cardinals (0-1) with 16 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Quinn Pence had 11 points, six assists and five steals; Sadie Steward had 6 points and three rebounds; and Payton Morrison, in her first game back from a serious knee injury, had 4 points, five rebounds and two steals.
