The Jamestown Jackals lost a pair of games in The Basketball League action over the weekend at Jamestown Community College’s Physical Education Complex.

Despite trailing the entire game, the Jackals (1-5 Upper Midwest Division) had a chance to tie or take the lead late in Sunday’s 90-86 nonleague loss to the Albany Patroons (5-1 Northeast Division), but came up empty on both possessions.

Albany took an 88-84 lead on Josue Salaam’s three-point play with 1:14 remaining. Jamestown’s D’Mauria Jones made a layup at the other end of the floor to make it 88-86 and the Patroons turned the ball over on their next trip, but the Jackals missed at the other end. After Albany’s James Currington made 1-of-2 free throws, Jamestown came up empty on its next possession.

The Patroons then missed a pair of free throws, but Derrick Rowland Jr. grabbed an offensive rebound and put the game away with a foul shot.

Salaam led five Albany players in double figures with 20 points. Trevis Wyche had 18 points and seven assists; Currington had 14 points, 18 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots; Philip Flory had 13 points; and Rowland had 11 points.

The Jackals got their deficit down to three in the third quarter on a Tafari Beckford layup, but Albany got its lead back up to 12 at the start of the fourth quarter.

On Friday night, Glass City’s Christopher Darrington gave the Wranglers a five-point lead on a 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining and Cheek missed a tying 3-point attempt with 7.5 seconds left as Glass City escaped with a 96-94 Upper Midwest Division win.

Glass City entered the fourth quarter with a 69-66 lead and the Wranglers’ lead grew to as many as 12 three times on Anthony Carmon 3-pointers before Jamestown began its comeback.

McGhee made a floater with 5:34 left to make it 87-77 and then made a layup 30 seconds later. McGhee sank another floater with 4:30 left to make it an 87-81 game. Cheek eventually made it 89-84 and McGhee made it 89-86 with 3:39 remaining.
