Southwestern Falls To Fredonia In Overtime

FREDONIA — Sophia Gullo’s goal in the 83rd minute sent Fredonia to a 2-1 overtime victory over Southwestern in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls soccer game Thursday.

The game winner came courtesy of an assist from Annie Gondek.

Gondek tallied a first-half goal, assisted by Gullo, but Southwestern tied it when Lexi Lundmark found the back of the net on an assist from Avery Johnson.

Sarah Davis was credited with the win in goal for the Hillbillies. Braya Beaver was in net for the Trojans.

CARDS PREVAIL

SOUTH DAYTON — Quinn Pierce, Kyra Pence and Sara Smith all scored a goal to help Randolph upend Pine Valley/Gowanda 3-1 in an East Division game.

Mattie Evans-Brown, Gianna Bowles and Pence were credited with an assist in support of keeper Stella Smith.

Sarah Kruszka tallied the lone goal for the Panthers, who had Destiny Lindquist in goal. Lindquist made 21 saves.

RAIDERS POST SHUTOUT

OLEAN — Ella Propheter and Karryne Mims both scored a goal, and Morgan Maloney was perfect between the pipes as Jamestown blanked Olean 2-0 in a Division 1 West game.

Mims also had an assist for the Red Raiders, who tallied a goal in each half.

EAGLES BREEZE

ELLICOTTVILLE — Audrey Hurlburt and Brooke Butler scored two goals apiece to highlight Ellicottville’s 7-0 victory over Cattaraugus-Little Valley in an East Division game.

Cameron Kaleta, Aaliyah Winslow and Alysa Williams added a goal apiece, while Butler added two assists, and Hurlburt, Teaghan Finn and Williams all had one.

Abby Chudy earned the shutout in goal for the Eagles, who led 3-0 at halftime.

DRAGONS WIN

SILVER CREEK — Maple Grove downed Silver Creek/Forestville 8-0 in a Division 2 West game.

BOYS

BEARS WIN CLOSE ONE

WESTFIELD — Westfield/Brocton held a 1-0 lead and had just three minutes to go for the shut out over Frewsburg in Central Division action.

Things did not go according to plan for the Wolverines as Brayden Lobb scored a goal from Zayne Cline to pull the Bears level at 1-1.

Frewsburg rode that momentum into overtime and Garrett Brink smashed home the game-winning goal with his head off a pass from Zack Carr.
