Gowanda Advances To 2nd Straight Class D Final

GOWANDA — Aaliyah Stevens scored six goals and added two assists as No. 2 Gowanda beat No. 3 Salamanca/Randolph 15-7 in a Section VI Class D girls lacrosse semifinal Wednesday.

The Panthers will now play No. 1 Eden/North Collins next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Ken-Ton Parker in the Class D championship game. Gowanda beat the Raiders 17-8 in last year’s final.

Gowanda led 8-4 over the Warriors at halftime Wednesday.

Chloe Luther had four goals and two assists while Aurora Stevens had three goals and an assist for the Panthers. Ke’Ya Stevens and Jillian Gernatt each chipped in a goal.

Luther picked up four groundballs and three interceptions; Aailyah Stevens had an interception; Alaina Kaczmarczyk picked up three groundballs; Lily Scanlan had two groundballs; and Autumn Nephew and Karice John each grabbed a groundball.

For Salamanca/Randolph, Laila Zolner scored three goals and Aubrey Hogan had two while Mikaela Tennity and Marijah Skye each had one.

Keianna John picked up two groundballs while Hogan, Lezly McComber, Grace Hodara and Jorja Miller each grabbed one.

WARRIORS ADVANCE IN CLASS D

SALAMANCA — No. 2 Salamanca/Randolph beat No. 7 Gowanda 18-12 in a Section VI Class D quarterfinal Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Warriors will host No. 3 Depew in a semifinal tonight at 7.

For Gowanda, Croix Snow and Trelin Warrior each had four goals and an assist. Ha’Tsihgahdo:D Stevens had a goal and four assists; Quinton Jackson had a goal and three assists; Winter Rivera had two goals and an assist; and Nakotah Jackson had an assist.

EAGLES BREEZE TO SEMIFINALS

ANGOLA — Blayze Becker scored four goals and chipped in an assist to lead No. 1 Lake Shore/Silver Creek to a 14-2 Section VI Class C quarterfinal win over No. 8 Amherst on Tuesday.

Ray Cortes had three goals; Jaden Kennedy had two goals and two assists; Korbin Bonafede had two goals; Joiise John had a goal and an assist; Obrigh Tallchief had two assists; Garyn John and Conner John each had a goal; and Vinny Marszalek and Koewyn Jimerson each had an assist for the Eagles, who will host No. 5 West Seneca East at 5 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Cortes grabbed eight groundballs, Becker grabbed seven and Kennedy picked up five while Tallchief grabbed four.
