RANDOLPH — Drew Hind is only a freshman.
He had the finest night of his young high-school career Tuesday.
Hind made a Randolph record 11 3-pointers en route to a career-high 38 points as the Cardinals beat Maple Grove 84-48 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division boys basketball action.
Hind scored the first 16 points of the game for Randolph, a stretch that included our 3-pointers and two layups off of steals. He added a 3-pointer in the second quarter, three more in the third and three more in the fourth.
“The whole team saw it early,” said Kevin Hind, Randolph’s coach and Drew’s father. “They were in a 3-2 zone and early on we had a couple of set plays that he hit 3s on.”
Drew Hind’s total of 11 3-pointers was one more than Blake Morrison, Bryce Morrison and most recently Isaac Wakefield. Drew’s older brother Tyler, now at Daemen College, had a career high of nine 3-pointers.
“He was just rolling,” Kevin Hind said of Drew. “The intensity picked up later in the game. … That game was a fairly good, physical basketball game for most of it.”
