Swanson Pours In 31 Again, But Westfield Loses To Olean

OLEAN — Darien Swanson scored 31 points for the second straight game, but Westfield struggled offensively in the first half and fell to Olean 68-48 in the Olean Tip-Off Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Less than 24 hours after knocking off Hornell, the Wolverines (1-1) managed just 17 points before the break to fall into a 14-point hole.

“(Olean) isn’t big, but they’re big enough,” Westfield coach Nolan Swanson said. “They’re also quick and they covered the perimeter well.”

Jack DeRose led the Huskies with 16 points, Zion James collected 14 and Kamdyn McClain added 10.

In addition to his 31 points, Darien Swanson added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Cole Holland added 10 points for Westfield.

“We played so hard both games,” Coach Swanson said. “It was good for the boys to see and do.”
