Cortes Pours In 24 For Silver Creek Boys

FALCONER — Silver Creek’s start to the boys basketball season has gone according to script.

Ray Cortes has been a big reason.

The sophomore poured in 24 points, including 17 in the first half, and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead the Black Knights to a 71-36 nonleague victory over Falconer on Monday night.

Matt Woleben chipped in 22 points, including 10 in the second quarter, when the visitors outscored the Golden Falcons 26-8 to take a 46-20 lead at the break.

Gavyn Wood and Jake Swanson both had 10 points for Falconer (0-3).

SOUTH DAYTON — Kordell Oakes poured in 34 points and Wayne Libby added 25 as Pine Valley rolled to a 98-22 nonleague victory over Brocton.

Bryce Sercu chipped in 14 points for the Panthers (2-1), who led 46-10 at halftime.
