Curling Leagues

Northwest Arena recently hosted Week 2 of its Winter Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Pepsi Rockstar-Z went 2-0 against Curls Night Out (32-24) and Legion of Broom (33-31) with Evan Hanna and Simon Pavlov leading the way.

Shoeless Joe’s Pub also went 2-0 on the week as it defeated the Gemstones 55-17 and Curling Me Softly 49-23 as Andrea Waddington and Teresa Jackson were the top curlers.

Sonic Sliders doubled up with a 31-26 victory over Legion of Broom and a 41-26 win over Gemstones with Lou Swanson being their leading curler.

TRCurlers had a night for the ages as they scored 112 points to secure their two wins over The Rockies (50-40) and Fruit of the Brooms (62-32) with Bruce Main and Tod Szczech being their top curlers.

Curls Night Out pulled out an overtime win over The Rockies 33-30 on Dawn Stuart’s final shot.

Pepsi Rizer-Z evened up its record with a 47-33 win over Scuba Crew as Ed Wiggers led the way.

Scuba Crew knocked off Curling Me Softly 39-30 as Tony Stellato was the top scorer.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Stone Cold Curlers got in the win column in a big way as they went 2-0 this week with wins over Glass House Gang (43-29) and Hack Attack (28-19). Janice Franklin and Suzi Merchant led the way.

Also going 2-0 were the TOMTE’ Curlers as Ericka Thomas and Kim Tedquist led the way over Rolling Stones (47-33) and the Pickle Pushers (30-24).

Short & Curly remained perfect and on top of the division with wins over Haggy’s Bozz Haggz (58-22) and War Vets (31-22) with strong play from John Fisk and Sam Stewart.

Curl Jam recorded a win over Haggy’s 30-22 with its top curler Seth Erickson.

Chris Baglia led the way for the Rolling Stones as they bested Glass House Gang 31-24.

The Pickle Pushers recorded the first win of their curling careers as the topped Curl Jam 23-14 behind strong play from newcomers Nancy White and Kathy Geary.

5:30 STEVE CHAMBERS @ LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Globo Curling Purple Cobra continued at the top of the standings with their two wins over Curl Jam (47-39) and Hindy’s Hurlers (29-26) behind strong play from Nick Baglia.

Also going 2-0 on the night was We’ve Got the Stones as they also bested Rand Machine 54-39 and Stone Cold Maidens 38-23 with star performances from Jennifer Beebe and Kathy Dossey.

Teams going 1-1 on the night were Golfers on Ice being led by Jim Gustafson; Curl Jam knocking off the “Golfers” 30-27 with strong play from Kalynn Swanson; Rand Machine defeating Girls with Stones 39-26 with Chris Wahl being the first star; and Girls with Stones picked up their first career curling win as they defeated Stone Cold Maidens 39-33 with Mary Bosek being their top curler.

6:30 STEVE CHAMBERS @ LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The Brush Offs remained undefeated after two weeks of play with wins over Got Stones (30-22) and Lewis and Lewis I (24-15) with Kyle Rahr being the top curler.

Got Stones bounced back with a victory over Livengood/Galbato’s 27-26 as Adam Paterniti led the way.

12oz Curlers went 2-0 on the week as they defeated Sky Rocketeers (36-29) and Curls Gone Wild (33-31) with strong play from Kevin Gastol and Justin Swanson.

The Icemen improved their record to 3-1 with wins over Jamestown Hammers (29-24) and Lewis & Lewis II as Seth Boardman and Paul Gustafson led the way.

Going 1-1 on the night and defeating Michael P’s was Jamestown Hammers with Kristen Darr being the top curler.

Curls Gone Wild had a stellar performance from Ben Snow as they also knocked off Michael P’s 41-37.

Sky Rocketeers sneaked by Curling Me Softly 30-29 behind Troy Eklum’s strong play.

Curling Me Softly opened up their night with a 40-32 win over the Livengood/Galbato team as Kurt and Alexis Crytzer led the charge.

Lewis & Lewis II defeated Lewis & Lewis I in the battle of the Panebiancos (31-26) as Jim Panebianco was the top curler.

7:30 STEVE CHAMBERS @ LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Peterson’s Candies jumped up in the standings this week going 2-0 by defeating The Home Despots (42-14) and Drawing a Blank as Tim Sturges was stellar.

Improving their record to 3-1 with two wins was Barney’s Hoof Trimming/Curl Power by defeating CHQ Hydro (54-23) and Slippery Streets (32-16) with Daniele Anderson and Jenn Scolton showing their curling prowess.

Dot’s Gift Boutique remained on top of the division with two wins over Slippery Streets (43-28) and Haggy’s Jr. Curling (32-30) behind strong play from Bryan Olson.

Home Despots defeated CHQ Hydro 27-22 with rookie David Niles’ outstanding play.

Bauer’s Blockers earned their first ever curling win in dramatic fashion as Susan Bauer had the game-winning stone in overtime to defeat Sweeping Beauties 27-24.

4:30 RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP FRIDAY LEAGUE

Premium Listings brought home the first two wins of their curling careers with victories over Sweeping Beauties (32-21) and Bottom Up Painting (35-34) as they were led by Tom Fred and Adam Fiorella.

The Seminar Group stayed on top of the division, remaining undefeated with their two wins over Haggy’s 4 Below (45-28) and Gus’s Curlers (44-40) as Eric Maloney and Rex McCray were their top curlers.

Cold Beer Here received outstanding play from “The Coach” Steve Tanner as they bested Always Late, But Never Nervous 23-22 and The Chestnuts 36-32.

The Sliders, won a nail-biter 33-31 over Tracey’s Dog and Robinson’s Law Office on stellar play from Tom Calalesina and Charlie Peterson.

The Chestnuts whitewashed Bottom Up Painting 54-33 where Mike Lyons carried The Chestnuts.

Sweeping Beauties slipped by Robinson’s Law Office 40-38 as Logan Ludwig was his team’s top curler.

Gus Curlers defeated Tracey’s Dog 46-27 as Sharon Gustafson led the charge.

Week 1 got off to an outstanding start with all 64 teams competing.

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Fruit of the Brooms got off to a hot start to the season as they went undefeated going 2-0 against Curls Night Out (20-16) and Shoeless Joe’s Pub (46-21) with Ed Cramer and Frank Fuller leading the way.

Curls Night Out opened up their night with a commanding 50-39 win over Legion of Broom with Darcy Cramer and Darla Nelson being the leading curlers.

Also going 2-0 on the night were The Rockies as they received outstanding stickwork from Tim Perrin as they defeated the Gemstones 57-43 and Scuba Crew 44-40.

The Gemstones came back and defeated Curling Me Softly 22-12 in a low-scoring affair.

Going 1-1 with a close victory, Curling Me Softly handed Pepsi Rockstar-Z their first loss of the season 30-28 with strong play from Greg Fye.

In another close match, The Scuba Crew edged out TRCurlers 47-45 behind strong play from Catherine Johnner.

Pepsi Rizer-Z defeated Legion of Broom 38-15 with Mia Goot leading the way.

The Pepsi Rockstar-Z knocked off Shoeless Joe’s Pub in another tight contest with a 46-40 win as Simon Pavlow led the way.

Sonic Sliders started the new season out right with a 44-34 win over the Rizer-Z as Dennis Plowy was the top curler.

Kevin Anderson from the TRCurlers returned the favor knocking off the Sliders in their second game 42-26.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

TOMTE’ Curlers started the season out on the right slider as they went 2-0 with wins over Cold Stone Curlers (44-36) and Curl Action (21-20) in overtime with Dan and Ericka Thomas sliding some clutch stones.

Christine Baglia led the Rolling Stones to two victories over War Vets (37-20) and Cold Stone Curlers (44-26).

Returning after a year off, Hack Attack knocked off the Pickle Pushers 21-17 and Haggy’s Bozz Haggz 31-12 with Michelle Richau and Emily Lewis being their top scorers.

Defending champions started off right where they ended as they defeated both Curl Action (38-20) and Pickle Pushers (53-39) with their top curlers Sam Stewart and Jason Swanson.

Haggy’s Bozz Haggz topped the Glass House Gang 34-13, as they were led by Nicole Snyder.

The Gang bounced back with a 28-18 victory over War Vets as they were carried by Ray Ray Downey.

5:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Globo Curling Purple Cobras had a commanding first night by capturing two convincing wins over Girls with Stones (41-22) and Stone Cold Maidens (49-38) behind strong play from Chad VanEvery.

Hindy’s Hurlers also jumped out to a strong first night starting out 2-0 by besting Rand Machine (34-32) and We’ve Got the Stones (27-23) with the star performers being Sarah Mott and Mark Hinderleider.

Teams going 1-1 on the night were Girls with Stones being led by Marianne Mattoon; We’ve Got the Stones with Matt Beebe leading the way; Golfer’s on Ice with Jon Peterson leading the team; and Rand Machine being led by Jeff Wahl.

6:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Defending champion The Brush Offs kept it rolling into this season on opening night going 2-0 with wins over MP’s (33-14) and Jamestown Hammers (22-18) with Kyle Rahr and Nick Kahanic being the top performers.

12oz. Curlers also went 2-0 as they defeated Lewis & Lewis II (36-34) and Lewis & Lewis I (28-23) as they were led by their captain Kevin Gastol.

Going 1-1 on the night was Curling Me Softly with strong play from Kurt Crytzer; The Livengood’s with their top curler being Kirstie Hanson; and Got Stones being led by Travis Higgs.

Also going 1-1 on opening night was Sky Rocketeers with Matt Hanley leading the way and The Icemen being led to victory by their top scorer Molly Gustafson.

7:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Newcomers, the Sweeping Beauties, had a tremendous opening night by going 2-0 defeating Haggy’s Jr Curling (42-27) and Slippery Streets (49-36) with their team being pushed to victory by Dana Crabtree and Mindy Lawson-Crabtree.

Dot’s Gift Boutique continued its winning ways as it came out strong on opening night eclipsing both of their opponents by beating The Home Despots (23-20) and Peterson’s Candies (34-32) with Rex McCray and Steve Chambers leading the way to their strong start.

Teams that 1-1 were Barney’s Hoof Trimming; Curl Power being led by Danielle Anderson; the Home Despots with Casey Colburn being their top curler; CHQ Hydro being carried to victory by Will Lucas; and Slippery Streets with Kenneth Mark leading the way.

4:30 RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP FRIDAY LEAGUE

The Seminar Group started the season out on the right slider, winning two games (48-43) and (43-25) versus Always Late, But Never Nervous and The Sliders with strong play from their captain Rex McCray.

Sweeping Beauties swept their way with two wins also against Gus’s Curlers and Tracey’s Dog as they were led by their young gun Logan Ludwig.

Haggy’s 4 Below turned things around from last year as they opened up their season with two victories. They received strong play from their leader Terry Garvin and super sub, Butch Camarata.

The Chestnuts topped Premier Listings 36-24 as Barb Lyons was their leading curler.

Bob Paterniti led Tracey’s Dog past Cold Beer Here 30-20.

Cold Beer Here opened up their night and defeated Robinson Law Office 40-33 behind strong play from Elliott Deleon.

Robinson’s bounced back to capture their first ever curling win as they bested Always Late, But Never Nervous 31-26. They received outstanding play from Neil Robinson and Kay Robinson.

Gus’s Curlers knocked off The Chestnuts to also earn their first career curling victory as they were led by Ginger Johnson.

The Sliders slid by the Painters 43-33 thanks to Sandy Calalesina’s curling prowess.
