Jamestown Takes Four Sets To Beat Falconer

Jamestown split a pair of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West volleyball matches this week.

Behind 10 kills and 14 digs from Kylie O’Brien, the Red Raiders edged Falconer 25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23 on Thursday at McElrath Gymnasium.

Hannah Grey added 27 assists and seven aces; and Rylie Loomis had 12 kills and 12 digs as Jamestown evened its record to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the division.

Emily Melquist paced Falconer (2-1, 1-1) with 23 kills, one block, 14 digs and four aces. Ava Fenton collected five kills, 20 assists, 18 digs and six aces; Hannah Melquist chipped in eight assists and 11 digs; and Dani Krenzer added seven kills and 12 digs.

On Wednesday, Allegany-Limestone held off Jamestown 16-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22.

Grey paced the Red Raiders with 31 assists and three aces; O’Brien had 11 kills, four blocks and four aces; and Loomis contributed 12 kills.

Jenna Louser led the way for the Gators with 21 kills and three aces; Madison Callen had 12 kills and nine digs; and Sydney Vlasewicz added 24 kills.

COUGARS STAY PERFECT

SINCLAIRVILLE — Cassadaga Valley continued a perfect start to its girls volleyball season with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-16 Division 2 West sweep of Forestville.

Shyanne Carlstrom led the Cougars (3-0, 2-0) with seven kills, four digs and three aces; Allison Wakelee led the team in assists to go along with three aces and a kill; Aystyn Barrett had four aces and three digs; Peyton Allessi had six aces; and Madilynne Hattaway had four kills.

Alena Thomas led the Hornets (0-2, 0-2) with seven kills and five blocks; Allie Vanvlack had 10 digs; and Makayla Press had 10 assists and three aces.

Forestville won the JV match.

SNOW PACES RED DRAGONS

Samantha Snow had 10 kills, seven assists, 14 digs and six aces to lead Maple Grove to a 25-22, 25-13, 13-25, 25-15 Division 2 West win over Panama.

Tessa Reed had eight kills; Emma Foley had 10 digs and two blocks; and Erin Mansfield had 18 assists and six aces for the Red Dragons (3-1, 2-0).

Lilly Odell led the Panthers (1-3, 1-1) with seven kills and three digs; Sarah Harvey had four kills and five digs; Mandy Brink had 11 assists and 15 digs; and Corinne Hovey had 13 digs.

Maple Grove won the JV match.

DELLOW, KINCAID SHINE

WESTFIELD — Haleigh Dellow had seven kills, three blocks and seven digs as Westfield topped Clymer/Sherman 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 in Division 2 West play.

Keara Kincaid added seven kills and nine digs; Tanleigh Bestine had 13 assists and nine digs; and Bianca Seger had four aces, five kills and four digs for the Wolverines (2-1, 1-1).

Reagan Bates had seven digs and Mikala Einink had three assists for Clymer/Sherman (1-1, 0-1).

Clymer/Sherman won the JV match.

TRJOANS SWEEP FREDONIA

FREDONIA — Madeleine Dubois had nine kills and nine digs as Southwestern swept Fredonia 25-19, 25-11, 25-11 in Division 1 West action.

Anna Rauh had 10 kills, six digs, two assists and an ace; Arrington Restivo had 15 assists, three digs and three aces; and Lauren Cotter had 10 digs, three assists, an ace, an assist and a block for the Trojans (4-0, 2-0).

Sarah Davis had three digs and two aces; Jae Davis had nine digs; and Becca Piede had four assists, two kills and an ace for the Hillbillies (0-3, 0-3).

Fredonia won the JV match 20-25, 25-19, 25-15.
