The Jamestown Skating Club, along with Kirk Wyse and Lenel VanDenBerg’s organization “The Skating Academy”, hosted a weeklong intensive figure skating camp July 12-16 at Northwest Arena. The camp ran daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and included freestyle sessions, one-on-one and group lessons, and on- and off-ice conditioning classes focusing on stretching, body weight training and dance. Coaches included jump specialists and spin specialists. Participants included skaters from all over the state as well as Pennsylvania. The Jamestown Skating Club will be hosting its annual competition “Skate Chautauqua” drawing skaters from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ontario and other areas on Aug. 21.
