LAKEWOOD — Owen Ludwig threw a complete-game two-hitter with six strikeouts as Fredonia beat Southwestern 8-2 in CCAA Division 1 West baseball Monday at Packard Field.

No. 2 hitter Max Marshall hit an infield single and Calvin Ricker hit an RBI single in the first for Southwestern. Ricker later scored on an error.

MARSH TWIRLS GEM

ELLICOTTVILLE — Lucas Marsh threw his first complete game of the season as Ellicottville shut out North Collins 1-0 in Division 1 East play.

Marsh struck out 12 and walked three in a two-hitter.

“He had command. The biggest thing was he pitched to contact and was around the plate all night,” Ellicottville (6-5, 5-3) head coach Chris Mendell said of Marsh. “He was throwing a curveball and changeup for strikes.”

Logan Grinols hit an RBI single to score Ryan Dekay in the second inning for Ellicottville’s lone run.

In the bottom of the sixth, Dekay singled, but Wyatt Chudy was thrown out at the plate.

Tony Puckhaber doubled in the fourth inning and Derek Ebersole singled with two outs in the seventh for North Collins (4-5, 3-5).

Puckhaber also threw a complete game with nine strikeouts and one walk.
