Jamestown’s Carlson Re-Ups With Browns

Stephen Carlson will be a Cleveland Brown this season.

The team announced Wednesday that the Jamestown native signed the exclusive rights free agent tender the team applied last month. The signing was also confirmed to The Post-Journal by Carlson’s agent, Shane Costa.

“Back for another year,” Costa said via text.

Carlson, 24, played every game for the Browns last season and has appeared in 25 games in his first two years after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Princeton University in April 2019. In his career, the 2015 Jamestown High School graduate has six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown while seeing most of his playing time on special teams.

By definition, exclusive rights free agents have the option of signing with their team or sitting out the season. Carlson made it official yesterday that he’ll be a Brown in 2021.
