Rowing Registration Underway

The Chautauqua Lake Rowing high school club team is currently holding registration for the 2021 competitive spring rowing season. The CLR provides a fun and competitive environment for boys and girls in grades 8-12. Athletes as young as seventh grade may be eligible to row and are handled on an individual basis. For the steersman (those smaller athletes who steer and encourage rowers in the racing shells), eligibility is from seventh through 12th grades. No experience is necessary to be a part of the CLR club rowing team. CLR coaches will provide the training to learn to row or act as steersman. Rowing is a great cross-training sport and one of the best team-oriented activities. Students from all local schools are welcome to register and become part of the club team. Indoor practices are not being held this season due to complications of the COVID-19 restrictions. Athletes will be assigned workouts to complete on their own time prior to the outdoor season. Outdoor practices, dependent upon weather, begin tentatively March 29 at the boathouse, which is located at 18 Jones and Gifford, Jamestown. Outdoor practices run Monday through Friday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. For more information on the team and registration, see CLRA’s website at http://www.rowchautauqua.org. Contact information for team coaches is also provided under the high school tab. For those who have additional questions, appointments can be made for parents and athletes to meet a coach at the boathouse.
