Pickleball Champions Crowned In Seven Divisions
LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood YMCA Pickleball Before Christmas Tournament was held this past weekend.
The two-day tournament consisted of seven divisions.
On Saturday, Matt Johnson won the Men’s Singles Division followed by Alec Thomas and Bryan Minicucci.
In Women’s Doubles, Amy Porter and Karen Daddario finished first. Megan Lundin and Michele Ognibene took second while Laura Scheu and Emily Hawkins took third.
Father-son duo Adam and Andrew Brechner took first in the Men’s 3.5 Doubles Division. Paul Laurie and Gary McMillan were second while John Cable and Rick Engelbert took third.
In 3.5 Mixed Doubles, Carol Cady and Adam Brechner took first followed by Hawkins and Greg Genco. Ognibene and Cable took third.
On Sunday, Daddario and Aditya Varanasi won the 4.0 Mixed Doubles Division. Porter and Jahad Ali were second while Marlene Sandberg and Johnson were third.
In Men’s 4.0 Doubles 50-Years-Plus, James Stevens and Tom Hayes took first. Jed Carrol and Bill Grossman took second with Michael Hacker and Timothy David in third.
In Coed Doubles 4.0 49-Years-And-Under, Varanasi and Minicucci took first followed by Jason Santerre and Rick Borosky. Oto Hlincik and Tom Pakulski were third.
Sponsors included Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Slone Melhuish Insurance and Master Piece Kitchen. Trophy House donated the trophies.
