Northwest Arena recently hosted Week 7 of Backyard Curling Leagues, sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

The Pepsi Rockstar-Z captured the regular-season crown as they went 2-0 this week by knocking off CurlRona, 39-38, and Scuba Crew, 53-39. They were led by Andy Benton. Legion of Broom also defeated Scuba Crew, 35-28, and Shoeless Joe’s Pub, 29-21, with Todd Frangione leading the way. The Pepsi Banger-Z opened up their night with a 48-27 victory over Stone Cold Curlers as Mia Goot was the outstanding curler. CurlRona also knocked off the Stone Cold Curlers, 37-30, with strong play from Jade Barber. Curling Me Softly secured a victory over the Banger-Z, 44-30, thanks to strong play from Travis Fye. Shoeless Joe’s Pub continued their winning ways as they defeated Curling Me Softly, 49-41. Chad Waddington was their first star.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Short & Curly retained the top seed for next week’s playoffs by defeated Rolling Stones, 32-31, and On the Rocks, 41-35, with outstanding play coming from Sam Stewart. Also going 2-0 were The Outsliders as they defeated On the Rocks, 28-23, and Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers, 25-18, as Jordan Coccagnia and Levi Madden were their top curlers. Stone Cold also went 2-0 by defeating Rolling Stones, 25-14, and Always Late, but Worth the Wait, 31-17, as Mackenzie Caldwell and Jake Lyons led the way. Joe’s Slammer’s knocked off the Late Crew, 33-22, with their top curlers being Julie Fenton and Dan Tota. Joe’s Slammers lost the highest scoring game of the season in overtime to Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers, 54-52, as Todd Conklin slid the decider on his last stone.

5:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Hindy’s Hurlers recorded two wins apiece this week as they defeated Golfers on Ice, 29-24, and TRCurlers, 40-30, as they were led by Mark and Liz Hinderleider. Merrill Lynch Cirls secured the No. 1 seed with their victory over Home Despots, 37-3, behind strong play from Dawn Stuart. Going 1-1 on the night was Home Despots with their win over Golfers on Ice, 34-32, behind strong play from Casey Colburn. TRCurlers knocked off Rocks on, Rocks off, 50-32, as Bruce Main was stellar.

6:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Paving Ice earned two victories over Curls Gone Wild, 43-38, and Lewis & Lewis, 26-17, with Kevin Gastol being the top curler. Lewis & Lewis bounced back with a win over Jamestown Hammers, 28-16, with Cindy Panebianco leading the way. Sky Rocketeers pulled off a win over Throwing Stones, 35-31, receiving outstanding play from Dave Misenheimer. Throwing Stones bounced back with a victory over Jamestown Hammers, 41-34, as Tim Brown led the way.

7:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The Oldies, but Goodies had a 2-0 week, by defeating Peterson’s Candies, 50-45, and The Joly Riches, 21-19, as they received outstanding play from Greg Anderson and Randy Brown. Rolling Rocks also recorded two wins, as they bested Curl Power, 50-28, and New Kicks, 28-13, with Erik Dahlgren and Wayne Rishell showing their curling prowess. All going 1-1 this week, was Dot’s Gift Boutique, as they also defeated The Joly Riches, 30-21, as they were led by Dan Davis. Peterson’s knocked off Ready to Rock, 43-37, as Chris Dole was the smooth curler. New Kicks bounced back with a 20-18 win over Ready to Rock also, with Elliot Raimondo being the leading curler. Curl Power earned a victory by defeating top seed Dot’s, 45-41, as Jill Laemanerhirt was their first star.

4:30 FRIDAY LEAGUE

Fruit of the Brooms secured the top spot in next week’s playoffs with two victories, knocking off Sweeping Beauties, 43-39, and 4 Below Haggy’s Bar & Grille, 36-28, as they were led by rookie Jim Nelson. Button Mashers picked up two wins over Haggy’s (55-39) and the Baby Broomers (53-35) with Nick and Katie Lucas being the top curlers. Also going 2-0 was Justin Other Team with wins over Seminar Group, 25-21, and We’ve Got the Stones, 57-33, as they received outstanding play from Ben Snow. The Chestnuts topped We’ve Got the Stones, 31-21, with Devin Heyden being the outstanding curler. The Baby Broomers had a thrilling 33-32 overtime win over Seminar Group as Linda Lombardo and Stefanie Johnson were their leading curlers. Sweeping Beauties went 1-1 on the night with a 43-29 win over Harvii Curlers, as Kathy Ludwig led the way.
