Week 3 of the Northwest Arena Fall Backyard Curling Leagues, sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique, continued last week.

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

After Pepsi Rockstar-Z, Legion of Brooms and Shoeless Joe’s Pub went 2-0 this week, it has created a five-team logjam at the top of the division, pulling all five teams’ season records to 4-2.Pepsi Rockstar-Z defeated Stone Cold Curlers, 45-38, and CurlRona, 47-44, with Jarred Warner and Fred Pellerito leading the way. Legion of Brooms defeated Curling Me Softly, 52-36, and, 53-52, in a barn burner as Todd Frangione and Adam Irgang were the top curlers. Shoeless Joe’s Pub defeated Curling Me Softly, 58-44, and Scuba Crew, 57-56, in an exciting overtime thriller with Theresa Jackson sticking it to the Crew, on the game-winning last stone. Stone Cold Curlers bounced back with a 38-35 victory over Pepsi Banger-Z with Lori Johnson being their leading curler. The Banger-Z ended up going 1-1 with a victory over CurlRona, 46-42, with strong play from Greg Storms.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Short & Curly took over the lead in the division by remaining undefeated and improving their record to 6-0, as they defeated previously unbeaten Rolling Stones, 47-40, and Stone Cold, 43-23, as Jasen Swanson and John Fisk slid their way to the two victories. The Outsliders moved into second place as they went 2-0 on the week with wins over Joe’s Slammers, 49-48, and On the Rocks, 57-36, with Drew Rinaldo and Kyle Rensel leading the way. On the Rocks had a cliff-hanger as they defeated Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers, 43-42, as Mark Cummings was steady as a rock to seal the win. Always Late, but Worth the Wait defeated Rolling Stones, 33-31, as Miguel Colon showed his curling prowess. Stone Cold recorded a win over Always Late, 35-23, with their top curler Alanna Blanchard. Evening their record to 3-3 on the year was Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers as they defeated Joe’s Slammers, 53-46, as David Lobb led the way for the Red Curlers. Delana Rupp and Julie Fenton led the way for the Slammers.

5:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Home Despots jumped up in the standings with their two thrilling come-from-behind wins over Hindy’s Hurlers, 24-22, and in overtime over TRCurlers, 46-45, on Todd Singleton’s game-winning stone. Rocks on, Rocks off earned their first curling victory, as they knocked off Hindy’s Hurlers, 21-15, receiving strong play from Jim Cama. Going 1-1 on the night were the TRCurlers as they also bested Merrill Lynch Cirls, 34-32, behind Bruce Main’s strong play; Golfers on Ice being led by Jon Peterson knocked off Rocks on, Rocks off, 32-17; and Merrill Lynch Cirls defeated Golfers on Ice, 43-39, as it was Kim Barber’s night to be shine.

6:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Paving Ice earned two victories as they defeated Jamestown Hammers, 31-27, and Curls Gone Wild, 39-31, with Kevin Gastol and Dylan Matteson being the top curlers. Curls Gone Wild bounced back with a victory over Lewis and Lewis, 30-13, as Ben Snow led the way. Cathy Panebianco entered the lineup in Lewis and Lewis’s second game and gave them added punch to knockout the Jamestown Hammers, 34-31. The Cremators went 2-0 again this week as they defeated Sky Rocketeers, 46-35, and previously undefeated Brush Offs, 41-39, on Jim Cowan’s thrilling and deciding final stone. Brush Offs remained at the top of the standings, with their win over Throwing Stones, 43-29, as Jarrett Kingsbury led the way. Also going 1-1 on the night and defeating Throwing Stones was Sky Rocketeers with David Misenheimer being the top curler.

7:15 STEVE CHAMBERS @ DAVE WARREN JEEP WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Steve Chambers led league-leading Dot’s Gift Boutique to another 2-0 week as they defeated The Oldies, but Goodies, 43-30, and The Joly Riches, 47-39. Peterson’s Candies/Neil’s Propane recorded two wins as they bested The Joly Riches, 43-13, and The Oldies, but Goodies, 36-14, with Chris Dole and Jeremy Gruber showing their curling prowess. Also going 2-0 this week was Rolling Rocks, as they outstoned Ready to Rock, 49-39, and Curl Power, 48-37, as they were led by Lori Dahlgren and Wayne Rishell. Getting their first win of the season, New Kicks knocked off Ready to Rock, 48-23, as Kris Sellstrom was the smooth curler. Curl Power earned a victory earlier in the night, as they narrowly defeated New Kicks, 31-30, as Danelle Karlson was their first star.

4:30 FRIDAY LEAGUE

The Harvii Curlers took over the top spot with their two victories over We’ve Got the Stones, 40-32, and Fruit of the Brooms, 38-37, as Chris Rodgers delivered the deciding stone on the final shot. Justin Other Team picked up two wins over 4 Below Haggy’s Bar & Grill, 51-40, and Fruit of the Brooms, 37-36, as Nikki Hinderleider and Laura Snow were their top curlers. The Elks Club got bragging rights over the Seminar Group, 34-24, and the Baby Broomers, 47-30, as they received outstanding play from Paul Rizzo and Doug Peterson. Freezerburn racked up two victories over The Button Mashers, 40-36, and Seminar Group, 29-19, in a low-scoring affair with Bruce Moore leading the way. The Chestnuts earned their first win of their curling careers, as they topped Sweeping Beauties, 50-40, with Dr. Bert Rappole being their outstanding curler. Avenging their loss, Sweeping Beauties also received their first career win as they defeated 4 Below, 40-22, with Kathy Ludwig earning the first star. In other action, We’ve got the Stones, narrowly defeated the Baby Broomers, 35-34, as Matt Beebe and Bucky Lombardo were their team’s top curlers. The Button Mashers avenged their earlier loss by defeating The Chestnuts, 59-35, as Joanna Paterniti was the outstanding player.
