HAMMETT, Pa. — The points season at Erie Speedway ended Sunday night with Dave Hess Jr scoring his fifth Mill Run Collision Super Late Model championship.

Hess clinched the championship with a week to spare then capped off his season with yet another win. Darrell Bossard had a near-disaster strike in his heat race, getting involved in an accident and suffering extensive body damage. Bossard was able to continue in the heat, finishing third in that event, then went on to finish ninth in the feature, scoring enough points to secure the championship over feature winner Breyton Santee. Santee wound up second in spite of winning both his heat and feature.

Randy Hall, plagued with mechanical issues the last two weeks, took the lead on lap four, then went on to collect the $1,500 winner’s purse supplied by BB’s Truck and Auto Service, sealing the Waterford Hotel E-Mod championship in the process. Going into the final night of points racing, Hall had a narrow 10-point lead over John Boyd, who finished seventh in the season finale. The Johnson’s Car Care and Collision points was only an 11-point spread going into the event with 2018 champion Matt Alexander trailing Bob Vogt. Alexander tightened Vogt’s lead to eight points in the heat race, but struggled during the feature, finishing sixth, two places behind Vogt, a second-generation champion.

John Boardman won his third consecutive Curtze Food Service Street Stock championship over Jimmy Kennerknecht, who also had an Eriez Speedway championship in the past while Jason Black capped his season with the feature win. Chris Horton scored his first championship in the L & D Tree Service Challenger, finishing second in the feature, but ahead of Mark Lawrence.

Lawrence tightened the chase by winning his heat while Horton was second in his qualifying effort. That tightened the battle to two points when the feature started. Horton’s second-place effort added another five points to the margin, winning the championship by seven points unofficially. Holden Heineman won the feature, his first of the current season.
