HAMMETT, Pa. — Superb summer conditions greeted fans entering Eriez Speedway for a full night of dirt track racing that culminated in familiar names in Victory Lane after the checkered flags had fallen.

Dave Hess Jr., one of the most popular drivers to ever race at Eriez, was the Mill Run Collision Super Late Model leader after a restart at lap one and never was headed, winning by over a quarter-lap.

Darrell Bossard collected the Nic Dit Trucking RUSH Late Model winning laurels, gaining the lead early after starting third.

Randy Hall waited till the final lap of the Waterford Hotel E-Mod feature to take the lead and score his second consecutive win.

Kyle Couchenour led from the start of the Curtze Food Service Street Stock feature to score the victory.

Steve Simon took over the lead after early leader Gary Olson spun from the lead at the halfway point of the Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economod feature.

Mark Lawrence, who barrel-rolled down the front straight earlier this season, proved victorious in the L&D Tree Service Challenger feature.

The Curtze Food Service Street Stocks were the first feature of the evening with Couchenour and Pat Fielding at the front. Couchenour grabbed the lead at the green with Fielding, former champion Scott Gurdak and Wesley McCray right behind. Yellow flew at lap two when Steve Yokum slowed and headed pitside. Two laps later Shane Applebee, Douglas Eck, Erik Wise and Justin Pratt piled up in turn four. After caution was already out, Mike Reed got into the turn-one wall. Reed, McCray and Eck pitted under yellow with Reed able to rejoin the fray. Multiple past champion John Boardman spun from contention at lap two after the green was displayed. At lap four caution again appeared for Reed and Joe Stajnragh spun in turn four. Reed needed towed off the track. For the green at lap five it was Couchenour, Jason Black, Fielding, Rod Laskey and former champion Jimmy Kennerknecht as the top five. The order was the same at the halfway point. On lap 14 Kennerknecht came to third. The final top five were Couchenour, Black, Kennerknecht, Fielding and Laskey.

Next up were the Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economods. Olson and Justin Chaddock led the way to green with Olson leading the charge over Chaddock, Simon, Tyler Davis and last week’s winner Zack Lenart. Chaddock and Simon were side by side for second at the end of three laps. Todd Miller spun out at lap four in turns three and four. For green it was now Olson, Simon, Chaddock, Lenart and Mitchell Wright. Lenart and Wright were locked in a side-by-side duel at lap five with Wright gaining the spot at six. Olson’s time at the front came to a halt when he looped it at turns three and four at eight laps, just past halfway. Simon inherited the lead with Wright up to second over Chaddock, Matt Alexander and Lenart. Yellow again flew at lap nine when Kyle Layton spun. One more yellow flag flew at 13 laps when Donald May and Cody Stronghart got together in turn four. The final rundown was Simon — his second win of the season — Wright, Alexander, Lenart and Bob Vogt.

The Nic Dit Trucking RUSH Late Models started their feature with Scott Gurdak and Scott Dellahoy leading the way to Mark Matthews’ green. After one lap it was three former champions: Gurdak, Bossard and Jason Genco showing the way with Shane Crotty and Dellahoy rounding out the top five. Before another lap was complete 10 cars, nearly half of the 22-car field, were piled up in turn four, including defending champion Max Blair. Gurdak, leading the race, pitted under the yellow, elevating Bossard to the lead over Dellahoy, Crotty, Matt Sipes and Breyton Santee. On green, Crotty immediately came to second. Yellow flew again at eight when Brad Stoeger spun in turn one while Sipes spun into the infield but continued without giving up speed. At halfway it was Bossard leading Crotty, Santee, Jon Rivers and Khole Wanzer, in a side-by-side battle with Blair. Blair was fifth at 11 laps. Santee took over second at 14 laps and Blair was third at 16, but his pass was negated by a yellow flag shown for Alex Haight, spun in turn four. The race now had Bossard leading Santee, Crotty, Blair and Rivers. At 16 laps, Blair again took over third. The final caution came at two laps to go when Jacob Peterson spun coming out of turn four. At the checkers it was Bossard over Santee, Blair, Crotty and Rivers.

Lawrence led the L&D Tree Service Challengers from the pole with outside pole starter Dylan Greene fighting with Brandon Hall over second. Holden Heineman was fourth with James Weigle fifth. At two laps Joe Syzmanski and Pat Oyer spun in turn one. After green was again shown, Lawrence was leading Jessica Harvey, Heineman, Weigle and Wes Stull. Hall then spun in turn four. On this green Bodey McClintock, Joe Mason and Jonathan Seekings got together for a trip to the wall on the front straight. The next green had Lawrence now leading Nicholas Eck, Heineman, Zack Eller and Weigle as the top five. On the green Seekings got sideways with Hall winding up against the wall. Heineman got to second at lap four. By the halfway point Lawrence was leading Heineman, Eck, Stull and Jeff Nunemaker. The order remained static through to the checkers.

Dutch Davies and John Lobb brought the Mill Run Collision Super Late Model starting field to green with Davies leading the way over fourth-starting Max Blair, sixth-starting Hess Jr., Lobb and Matt Urban. Greg Oakes spun coming out of turn four onto the main straight at four laps into the 25 scheduled. At green Hess shot to the lead over Davies, Blair, Urban and Lobb. Lobb got back by Urban at five laps and Mike Knight came into the top five at eight laps. Meanwhile Hess was opening a lead and started lapping the backmarkers at lap 10. Yellow appeared at 14 laps involving Blair, Lobb, Knight, Davies and Khole Wanzer. At green it was Hess leading Urban, Bossard, Oakes and Steve Kania. Kania got by Oakes by the end of the lap with Oakes roaring back to battle side by side with Urban for third at lap 17. Kania got back to fourth at lap 21. With the white flag waving Oakes was challenging Bossard in turn one but Bossard maintained the spot. Hess went on to the win by over a quarter-lap over Bossard, Oakes, Kania and Urban.

Jesse Gould and John Boyd brought the Waterford Hotel Outlaw E-Mods to the green flag in the final race of the evening with Boyd leading lap one over Gould, Steve Simon, Troy Johnson and Greg Johnson. At five laps Troy Johnson and Simon got together in turn one with Troy Johnson needing to pit but Simon was able to continue. At six laps Boyd was leading Greg Johnson, 11th-starting Hall, Gould and Gary Eicher. Mike Eschrich spun, collecting Nate Hartzell in turn two at nine complete. Both were able to continue. At halfway Boyd was still the leader with Hall now second, Greg Johnson third, Eicher fourth and Gould fifth. Eicher came to third at 13 laps, then at 14 Mark Titus spun in turn two. Under yellow Greg Johnson gave up third and headed pitside. The top five were now Boyd, Hall, Eicher, Gould and Eric Reinwald. Coming through turn two on lap 15 it was three abreast for the lead among Hall, Boyd and Eicher. Eicher emerged second behind Boyd, but ahead of Hall, Gould and Reinwald. Eicher was the leader heading into turn three on lap nineteen but Hall and Boyd weren’t done yet, getting back by Eicher before the checkers. The final order of finish was Hall, for the second week in a row, Boyd, Eicher, Gould and Simon.
