Coronavirus Delays Stateline Opener

BUSTI — Due to restrictions in New York State at this time because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 racing season at Stateline Speedway has been postponed until further notice.

Currently, the “New York State on PAUSE Executive Order” remains in effect until May 15. This order states that, “all non-essential businesses statewide will be closed, non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason are canceled or postponed at this time, and any concentration of individuals outside their home must be limited to workers providing essential services, and social distancing should be practiced.”

The racing season must be delayed until the state lifts the restrictions. Stateline Speedway will continue to monitor all information and updates regarding COVID-19 that is being provided by the state, and make announcements as the situation changes.

While fans, race teams, and management are all anxious to go racing, Stateline Speedway currently has no clear picture on when it will be able to open for racing. The safety of its employees, race teams and fans will remain a priority in the decision making. Plans will be made for the 65th season once the state notifies the public of when restrictions are being lifted.

Future updates will be provided on the track website (newstatelinespeedway.com) and Facebook page (The New Stateline Speedway).

Stateline Speedway on Kortwright Road has been in continuous operation since 1956 and is currently owned by Jim and Jean Scott and Dave Turner. Racing is presented every Saturday night during the racing season, commencing as soon as the current crisis is resolved. The 2020 regular season will tentatively conclude on Aug. 29 with Champions Night.
