Winter Backyard Curling

Following are the results from Week Six of the Northwest Arena Winter Backyard Curling Leagues, sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique:

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Legion of Broom defeated the TRCurlers (38-34) and Curling Me Softly (36-35), with a top performance from Adam Irgang. Scuba Crew secured victories over Shoeless Joe’s Pub (38-34) and Merrill Lynch Cirls (37-31), thanks to top-tier curling outings from Brian Ceci. The third team that went 2-0 on the night was Sweeping with Your Wife, downing Shoeless Joe’s Pub (46-38) and Merrill Lynch Cirls (46-42), led by Tricia Poston. Continuing a solid season was the TRCurlers with their win against The Cremators (51-39), with the top performance coming from Tod Szczech. The Cremators were able to obtain a win from Curling Me Softly (54-34), while being led by Jim Cowan.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers kept up their dominant season with victories against On the Rocks (40-38) and Chadakoin Curling Crew (43-32), with the team being carried to victory by David Lobb and Todd Conklin. Slyde & the Family Stone capped off a strong night with two convincing wins against the Snow Ballers (35-29) and Fruit of the Brooms (37-32), with the team’s top curler being Peggy Swanson. Having a 1-1 night was the Fruit of the Brooms, which defeated the Pratt Street Pushers (49-44), led by Pete Snyder. The Snow Ballers were able to capture a win over the Pratt Street Pushers (41-35), behind the elite curling of Miguel Colon. Also going 1-1 were the Ice Holers by securing a win over On the Rocks (50-33), with the team’s top curler being Katie Lucas. The Chadakoin Curling Crew swiped a win away from the Ice Holers (44-40) and Mike Dawson had the best curling performance for the team.

5:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Three teams went 2-0. The Pepsi Zero’s had a strong night by defeating Stonehenge (49-48) and Sweeping with the Enemy (47-37), while being led by Kellie Warner and Tiffany Baker. Sarah & the Broomsmen were able to secure two wins over Game of Stones (41-32) and the Frozen Assets (53-51), with the team’s top curling performances coming from Chris Wahl. The third team that was able to go undefeated was the Mountain Dew Zero’s by capturing wins against Stonehenge (41-28) and Sweeping with the Enemy (47-45) . Jamie Billquist and Ed Wiggers led the way. Frozen Assets kept a successful season going with a win over Cliff and the Baby Broomers (45-40), while Bethany Dahlberg was her team’s best curler. Cliff and the Baby Broomers went 1-1, defeating Game of Stones (49-48), all thanks to Kris Burch’s sensational curling.

6:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The Brush Offs were able to maintain their dominance by defeating the Stone Cold Curlers (45-34) and The Garage (49-31), while Justin Swanson and Jarrett Kingsbury were the team’s top performers. The Knuckle Draggers surprised the competition and secured two victories over the Rock Blockers (34-26) and the Sky Rocketers (34-33), with credit to Wayne Hohman for his outstanding performance. The Trojan Curlers brought their “A” game with their wins over the Rock Blockers (51-41) and the Sky Rocketers (46-40), with Casey Windoft and Mike Barber leading the charge. The Garage had a solid night with a victory coming against All Curled Up (60-37), thanks to Butch Camarata. All Curled Up bested the Stone Cold Curlers (27-22), with Jenn Swanson having a top-tier curling outing.

7:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Three teams went 2-0. Dot’s Gift Boutique beat Rollman’s Rockers (45-36) and Killer BBB’z (29-27), with Dan Davis lifting the team to another successful week. Peterson’s Candies/ Neil’s Propane showed their skills in two wins against Beebe’s Broomers (41-33) and Curl Power (56-48), with Tim Sturges leading the way for his team. Short & Curly captured two wins from Beebe’s Broomers (50-33) and Curl Power (41-21), led by Jeff Seely. Rolling Rocks defeated the Killer BBB’z (40-19) because of Lori Dahlgren’s curling efforts. Rollman’s Rockers obtained a victory over the Rolling Rocks (48-36), with Kristen Elda pushing the Rockers to the win.
