NORTH EAST, Pa. — Essence Sims had 27 points and nine rebounds while Cerenity Chambers added 20 points and 17 rebounds as Mercyhurst North East beat Jamestown Community College, 78-68, in NJCAA Region 3 Division II action Saturday afternoon at Liguori Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks (9-14, 2-5)) led 24-15 after the first quarter, but the Saints (7-16, 3-4) took a four-point lead into halftime thanks to a 19-6 second quarter.

Marisa Schuppenhauer got Jamestown CC within a point late in the third quarter, but the Jayhawks were never able to tie or take a lead.

Gabby Iuculano led Jamestown CC with 22 points while Abi Lisciandro came off the bench to add 14.

The Jayhawks were just 24 of 79 (30.4%) from the field, including 4 of 31 (12.9%) from 3-point range.

Jamestown CC returns to action at 1 p.m. next Saturday against Genesee CC at the Physical Education Complex.
